June 20--Fayetteville native Summer Collins will perform Sunday on the premiere of ABC's "Rising Star," a new reality singing competition.

Collins, 18, is a graduate of Jack Britt High School. She performed at area festivals with her cousin, Isaac Ball, as part of the duo Summerfield.

After graduation, Collins moved to Nashville to further her music career. She is a student at Belmont University.

On "Rising Star," Collins will compete with other young performers before a panel of judges that includes singer Kesha, country star Brad Paisley and rapper and actor Ludacris. Josh Groban is the host.

Viewers will be able to vote for their favorites by swiping yes or no on a free "Rising Star" app. Viewers, and the singer, will know immediately whether he or she advances in the competition if a wall of voter faces rises.

The show airs at 9 p.m.
