Balochistan Budget-Minerals

Mineral sector has been hub of interest of provincial and federal governments interest because development of this sector future of Baluchistan's uplift is linked. Of the 50 minerals mined in Pakistan, forty are obtained from Balochistan.

This was stated by Adviser on Finance Khalid Langav in his budget 2014-15 speech in Balochistan Assembly Thursday afternoon.

He aid Rupees one billon have been provided for Mineral Department in the new financial year which are more than 75 percent higher than current financial year. Illegal lease of mineral wealth would be cancelled. Special attention would be paid on Mining industry uplift and use of modern machinery and gadgets would be encouraged. Rupees 5 billion have been set aside under the head of investment which would be spent on Reko Diq and other profitable projects. Crisis of Reko Diq which is impeding its development would be resolve din transparent manner. To improve this sector services of high skilled technical and legal experts have been acquired. Talks are being held with Centre about Saindak project so that its ownership could be transferred to Balochistan.
