Site of secondary resources - a new look at changing attitudes to the problem of waste

Project tasks: 1. Develop and implement a pilot site biowaste composting and separate collection of secondary resources, based on the active participation of the population 3 settlements Slavgorod district; 2. To support local communities to change the image of "garbage can" in the image of "secondary resources site"; 3. To support local communities in the elimination of illegal dumps and smartening up waste landfills. Expected results 1. By 1 ton decreased methane emissions only by experimental sites composting plant residues. In the future, after 3-5 years it is planned to achieve emission reductions through composting plant residues, especially in households with large plots of land, more than 1,000 tons of methane; 2. In Slagorod district more than 2 times increased collection of secondary resources 3. In the pilot territory liquidated at least 15 small unauthorized dumps; 4. Liquidated playground temporary storage of garbage in the village Rabochivi; 5. 5 landfills are put in the proper order; 6. Around 3000 people are involved in the process of secondary resource collection and aware of the dangerous effects of POPs, land degradation, climate change and environmental protection measures; 7. At "Lopatichy school" the model site for the exchange experience in plant waste recycling created and operating. 8. Established and successfully operate educational center for energy and resources saving on the basis of secondary school ? 1 Slavgorod. 9. About 150 students from different schools in the district and about 100 adults have been trained in the educational center for energy and resources saving on the basis of secondary school ? 1 Slavgorod Grantee: Local Fund for Rural Development "Renaissance-Agro" Organisation Mission : For GEF SGP, the community-based approach is the cornerstone for addressing local and global environmental and sustainable development challenges.
