Philippines : ADB and UN agencies announce launch of sustainable energy hub for ASIA

The Asian Development Bank along with 2 United Nations agencies has announced the launch of a hub.

The new hub targets to assemble investments and innovation to put clean energy to the Asia-Pacific region, where over 600 million people have no access to electricity and 1.8 billion others still use firewood and charcoal at home. Energy requirement is also elevating in the regions.

According to the ADB, by 2035 establishing countries in the area will account for 56 percent of global energy use, up from 34 percent in 2010. They will require over $200 billion in energy investments by 2030.

The Sustainable Energy will be hosted and managed by ADB for All hub. The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and the UN Development Programme are its partners.
