BRIEF: Mortgage rates slip

June 19--Mortgage rates slipped this week, lender Freddie Mac said Thursday, due to data showing a slowdown in home building last month.

The rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage averaged 4.17 percent for the week ending Thursday, down from last week's 4.2 percent. A year ago, the rate averaged 3.93 percent.

A 15-year fixed rate averaged 3.3 percent this week, down just a hair from 3.31 percent last weel. A year ago, it averaged the same as a 30-year, at 3.93 percent.
