June 19--Right here in River City, the Honors Choirs of Southeast Minnesota will present "The Music Man" June 26 through June 29.
Meredith Willson's ever-popular musical, set in River City, Iowa, (modeled on Willson's hometown of Mason City), follows the fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as as plans to bilk the local folks out of their hard-earned money. In the process, though, Hill falls in love with Marion the librarian, which complicates his plans.
Songs include "Seventy-six Trombones" and "Ya Got Trouble." The production includes 100 singers, actors and musicians of all ages. Becky Quetone directs, with Rick Kvam as musical director.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m.June 26 and 27, 8 p.m.June 28, and 2:30 p.m.June 29, all at Autumn Ridge Church, 3611 Salem Road S.W., Rochester. Tickets are $10 to $25. For reservations, call 507-252-0505.
