World Bank to grant Kazakhstan $21 billion for energy efficiency development

World Bank will issue $21.7 billion grant to Kazakhstan for implementation of the project on energy efficiency development as Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev and Permanent Representative of the World Bank in Kazakhstan Sebnem Akkaya sign the grant deal on Wednesday.

The project is aimed at modernizing socially important state facilities in all regions of Kazakhstan. Those are schools, kindergartens, hospitals and street lighting facilities, said Issekeshev.

The first year of the project is set to modernize 14 facilities, the second - 20 schools and kindergartens, 5 hospitals.

The grant is funded by the World Bank and the Swiss Confederation.
