Sukuk oversubscribed

MANAMA: The monthly issue of short-term Islamic leasing bonds, Sukuk Al Ijara, has received subscription to the tune of 410 per cent, the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) announced yesterday.

Subscriptions worth BD82 million were received for the BD20m issue, which carries a maturity of 182 days.

The expected return on the issue is 0.85pc compared to 0.90pc for the previous issue on May 15.

The issue begins on Thursday and matures on December 18.

The sukuk are issued by the CBB on behalf of the government.
