Studies from Department of Biotechnology Yield New Information about Nanoparticles

June 24, 2014

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Life Science Weekly -- Research findings on Nanoparticles are discussed in a new report. According to news reporting from Kanchipuram, India, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, "Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using aqueous root extract of Delphinium denudatum (Dd) by reduction of Ag+ ions from silver nitrate solution has been investigated. The synthesized DdAgNPs were characterized by using UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)."

The news correspondents obtained a quote from the research from the Department of Biotechnology, "The prepared DdAgNPs showed maximum absorbance at 416 nm and particles were polydispersed in nature, spherical in shape and the size of the particle obtained was

According to the news reporters, the research concluded: "The DdAgNPs showed potent larvicidal activity against second instar larvae of dengue vector Aedes aegypti with a LC50 value of 9.6 ppm."
