BRIEF: Former W&M prof to lead Colonial Williamsburg

June 17--Mitchell Reiss, the president of Washington College in Chestertown, Md., will be the next president and CEO of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.

Reiss will begin work in October, the foundation announced today. He will succeed Colin Campbell, who has led the foundation at the historic site for 14 years.

Reiss previously worked at the College of William & Mary and has served as an international negotiator and expert in national security.

Thomas F. Farrell II, the chairman of Colonial Williamsburg's board, said in a statement: "In Mitchell Reiss, we have found the ideal candidate who has a range of experience in the public and private sectors. Colonial Williamsburg will benefit from the understanding of the intersection of education and preservation in a contemporary world."
