Tokyo stocks up on U.S. stock gains, Japan's economic growth strategy

Tokyo stocks rose Tuesday as market sentiment was buoyed by overnight gains in the U.S. stocks and a draft of the Japanese government's revised economic growth strategy.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 42.68 points, or 0.29 percent, from Monday at 14,975.97. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 3.52 points, or 0.29 percent, higher at 1,238.20.

Major gainers included fishery and agriculture, real estate and chemical shares.
