Tokyo stocks rise in morning on Japan's economic growth strategy

Tokyo stocks rose Tuesday morning, underpinned by the positive reaction of investors to a draft of the government's revised economic growth strategy unveiled the previous day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 75.13 points, or 0.50 percent, from Monday to end the morning session at 15,008.42. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 6.20 points, or 0.50 percent, at 1,240.88.

Major gainers included insurance, precision machinery and utility shares.
