THREE sanitation projects under the Lake Victoria Water Supply and Sanitation phase one and two (WATSAN) worth
WATSAN Social Expert, Mr Robert Masunya told the 'Daily News' over the weekend that acquiring proposed land for the project from the villages could be a serious snag if not timely worked out.
"The plan was to acquire over 50 acres of land in all three districts and we hope it will be handed over as scheduled as long as all procedures to acquire the needed land are completed on time," he said.
He would not mention the procedures in obtaining the proposed land, but was of the view that villagers hosting the projects have to consider time currently wasted in negotiating for land.
According to him, 9.5 acres of land is likely to be secured in Sengerema district, 25 square kilometers in Nansio, Ukerewe district and 30 square kilometres in Geita district but it will all depend on solving legal technicalities experienced in the process.
However, Sengerema Water and Sanitation Manager, Mr Wawa Nyonyoli said 4.5 acres of land needed for solid waste management are almost ready and all compensation procedures are completed.

Mr Masunya noted that the specific objective of those projects is to give the communities in respective Towns' clean and safe drinking water and sanitation.
