Steel production in Kazakhstan grows by 17.1% in Q1 2014

Kazakhstan has produced 1.584 million tons of crude steel in January-May 2014, which is 17.1% more than the same period in 2013, the Agency of Statistics of the republic said Friday.

In the reporting period, Kazakhstan has produced 699.6 tons of ferroalloys (up 2.9%), 1.041 million tons of flat-rolled steel (up 19.1%).

In addition, the production of tinplate and tin-plated rolled sheet in the reporting period amounted to 34.4 thousand tons (down 30.5%).
