Dollar trades around 102 yen in early Tokyo trading

June 15, 2014

The U.S. dollar traded around the 102 yen line in Tokyo early Monday, little changed from its levels in New York on Friday.

At 9 a.m., the dollar fetched 101.97-98 yen compared with 102.00-102.10 yen in New York and 101.82-83 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Friday.

The euro was quoted at $1.3536-3537 and 138.03-04 yen against $1.3533-3543 and 138.01-11 yen in New York and $1.3574-3575 and 138.21-25 yen in Tokyo late Friday afternoon.

In New York on Friday, the dollar gained ground against the yen as a rise in U.S. shares boosted traders' risk appetite, reducing demand for the perceived safety of the yen.
