United Kingdom : BT to launch access node in NGD facility

June 14, 2014

UK telecommunications provider BT Group has selected Next Generation Data s (NGD) Newport facility in Wales to host a high-speed Multi-Service Access Node (MSAN) to assist the deployment of its 21CN (21st Century Network) next generation network.

BT s 21CN comprises a large-scale overhaul of its existing 20CN network.

It said over the next few years it will update its present equipment and replace it with a new multi-service network.

As a direct Point of Presence (PoP) on BT s 21CN network, NGD said that it will immediately offer colocation customers a fast provisioning to BT s low latency multi-service network at 1Gbps including Ethernet and Optical.

BT said that it will benefit from an increased UK data center footprint for its next generation network services, following growth of its network presence with NGD.

Next Generation Data s CEO Nick Razey said that the deployment will allow its customers direct access to even more on-site high speed network connectivity options.

BT said that it will deploy the MSANs in a total of five UK data centers by the end of the year.
