Smartphone App Development for Metro Transit

Prequalification are invited for Smartphone App Development for Metro Transit. REQUEST FOR INFORMATION In this Request for Information (RFI), the Metropolitan Council (Council) is soliciting ideas, input, and information for creating the specifications for an RFP that will be issued in October 2014 for a Smartphone App for Metro Transit customers. Features will include trip planning, account management, NexTrip information and much more. The information received will contribute to the RFP, and ultimately a delivered product that takes advantage of current tools and technology that we may have otherwise been unaware of. No contract will be awarded as a result of an RFI; it is strictly informational. 2. COUNCIL RIGHTS The Council reserves the right to cancel this RFI in writing or postpone the date and time for submitting information at any time prior to the information submittal due date. The Council reserves the right, to modify the RFI contents, to use the provided information obtained in any manner and to proceed to a request for proposal or not to proceed. In no event will any expenses of recipients be reimbursed. 3. PROJECT TIME FRAME Project Milestones Tentative Completion Date RFI Issued June 11, 2014 Questions Due June 23, 2014 Submittal Information Due July 1, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. local time Completion dates for the project milestones in this section are tentative only and are subject to modification by the Council. 4. BACKGROUND Created in 1967, the Council is the regional-level governmental unit for the seven-county Twin Cities area. The Council operates cost-effective regional services wastewater collection and treatment, transit and the Metro HRA, regional planning (jointly with local governments), and an affordable-housing service that provides assistance to lower-income families and individuals in the region. The Council also establishes policies for airports, regional parks, highways and transit, wastewater treatment programs, land use and affordable housing, and provides planning and technical assistance to communities in the Twin Cities region. This RFI is being issued for the Metro Transit division of the Council. The Metropolitan Council would be the contracting authority. 5.
