June 14--SAN ANGELO, Texas -- Community band sets free concert

The San Angelo Community Band will perform a free concert, "An American Overture," at 7 p.m. Monday at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church, 4522 College Hills Blvd.

Connie Kelly will direct the performance.

Rec department seeks umpires

The city of San Angelo's Recreation Division needs umpires for adult softball leagues.

Candidates must be 18 or older and can earn $16 per game officiating up to four games per night at the Texas Bank Sports Complex. Training takes two nights and is flexible.

Umpires must pay annual dues of $60 and purchase their own uniforms. Uniforms are about $125.

Music festival to aid veterans

White Wing Label will host the Hero's Music Festival on July 14 at Lee Pfluger Park in Eden. Gates open at 3:30 p.m., and the event begins at 4 p.m.

The festival will feature Country Music Association artists Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Bo Brumble and Case Hardin.

Tickets are $25 in advance. To purchase tickets, visit herosmusicfest.brownpapertickets.com. Military members receive $5 off admission with a valid military ID.

Proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, Purple Heart Hunt and the local VFW Post.
