June 13--Wines from all over the world paired with the best chefs Albuquerque has to offer -- all in the name of charity -- is what the 23rd Annual Vintage Albuquerque is all about.

Vintage Albuquerque is a not-for-profit organization that raises funds and awareness for arts education programs that encourage New Mexico children. This year's proceeds benefit the Albuquerque Museum Foundation, the Albuquerque Youth Symphony, NDI-New Mexico and Art in the School, according to Lora Lee Ortiz, who is part of Vintage Albuquerque's executive team.

This year's event is "Il Tesori Toscani," which celebrates Italian wines, particularly the wines of Castello Banfi Vintners, a family owned vineyard and winery in the Brunello region of Tuscany.

Vintage Wine week kicks off Sunday, June 15, with featured specials on wines by the glass or the bottle along with food pairings at several area restaurants including M' Tucci's Kitchina, Cocina Azul, Farina Alto, Adieux Cafe, Bien Shur and Mas. Ortiz advises the public to take advantage of these wine week events since some of the larger events have sold out, including the opening gala dinner at Zinc Bar & Bistro on Wednesday, June 18, and the big event on Saturday, June 21, at Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm.

Ortiz encourages the public to attend the Friday Fiesta Grand Tasting from 6-9 p.m.June 20 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center to get a taste of all that is Vintage Albuquerque, including a silent auction featuring wine, art, jewelry and other items. The grand tasting will feature more than 30 wineries pouring more than 100 wines. Numerous local restaurants also will be part of the event and cook up food to complement the wine selections. Wineries include Casa Rondena, Classical Wines From Spain, Damilano, Gruet Winery, Kendall-Jackson, Los Vencejos, Southwest Wines, Vias Imports and Vivac Winery. Restaurants include the Artichoke Cafe, Chama River Brewing Co., Farm & Table, Marcello's Chophouse, Savoy Bar And Grill, Street Food Asia and Vernon's Hidden Valley Steakhouse.
