June 12--This year the Taste of the Spencer fundraising event on Saturday June 21 will offer chances to win a coveted Dale Chihuly creation or Cadillac or even a trip to Paris and a Harley motorcycle.

Dale Chihuly is considered the world's foremost glass artist. His creations are in the collections of more than 180 museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Louvre, Bellagio Hotel and the Spencer, which features four permanent installations. The Chihuly raffle prize of a hand-blown five-piece glass "Poppy Red Basket Set with Ash Lip Wrap" is appraised at $25,000 and may be owned for the small price of a $50 raffle ticket. Only 300 tickets will be offered, giving each ticket holder good odds and a grand chance at claiming the prize.

Charles Centilli, executive director of the Spencer Theater, said "every year we have incredible auction items, but this year our inventory is exceptional in it's diversity and opportunity for a wider range of items to appeal to an even wider range of auction attendees and their interests. New items are coming in daily, including some incredible travel and motorcycles."

The Taste of the Spencer revelers will convene on both levels of the Spencer's Crystal Lobby, with many catering stations, red and white wines and bidding on silent auction items. The party will move to the stage where desserts, coffee and drinks will be served during the live auction of items, including travel packages to far lands and exclusive services as well as items of moderate value offering a range of bidding options. Auctioneer Steve Talbot will steer the pledges, bids and winning purchases of auction items.

Live and silent auction high-end items will include a new 2014 Cadillac CTS Coupe, courtesy of Sierra Blanca Motors; trips to Paris, Churchill Downs, Galapagos, Westminster, England, Prague or New Zealand and more; a Fender guitar autographed by The Eagles and many items that are mid- and moderate-range value levels so everyone can participate.

Kathleen McDonald, publicist for the Spencer, said that "new items include a 2004 Harley Ultra Classic Electra Glide 1450 (teal), a 2012 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 (black) and even a 2010 Yamaha Majesty 400 scooter.

A full listing of auction items are scheduled to appear on the Spencer website Monday June 16.

Much of the fun at any event held at the Spencer is the opulent setting, especially dramatic with a setting sun and sky views available in the summer months. Partiers dress from jeans to gowns and many guests from Texas join the event.

The sumptuous repast of appetizers, main courses and entrees will be served at stations for ease of sampling. The creations will be prepared by many chefs, including renown Spencer Founder's Room culinary master, Chef Shawn. Some menu highlights include: lobster rolls, jumbo shrimp, smoked salmon, prime rib, vegetarian hors d'oeuvres, roasted bleu cheese asparagus, pesto-baked brie, crabby mushrooms, plus many other savory delicacies -- both foods and desserts.

The Taste of the Spencer is known as an event of elegance and opulence with gourmet food tastings, wine and auctions of fine items. In its seventh year, the event is the annual fundraiser for the theater in its mission to help expand the cultural horizons of residents and visitors. The Spencer is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) public charitable organization.
