Sierra Nevada Employs Nimbus Data's All-Flash Arrays to Engineer Mission-Critical Storage Systems

June 13, 2014

Nimbus Data Systems reported that Sierra Nevada (SNC) has selected Nimbus Data's Gemini all-flash arrays (AFA) as the storage foundation for development of SNC's mission-critical computing infrastructures.

According to a media release seeking to upgrade its mission- critical Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) system with a fast and efficient storage solution based on flash memory, SNC vetted several all-flash array vendors and ultimately selected Nimbus Data because of its ability to deliver a solution that was ultra-compact, yet delivered input/output (I/O) performance.

"As a systems integrator, our customers rely on SNC to develop the best computing infrastructure for their environment," said Kirk Chang, chief systems engineer for SNC's Information & Sensor Solutions business area. "For this particular customer, we needed to build a system that could deliver data fast and reliably. Nimbus Data not only fit the performance requirements we were looking for, but the multiprotocol support provided for ease-of-integration into our environment. The 2U form factor, which allows us to maximize our limited space, was especially important."

"SNC is recognized for their innovation in developing robust computing systems that literally push the physical boundaries for how technology is used today," said Thomas Isakovich, CEO and founder of Nimbus Data. "SNC has been a great customer of Nimbus Data's over the past few years. We've built a level of trust and confidence in our technology that can't be replicated. It's pretty astounding the stress, reliability and performance tests they perform on each system to ensure their customers will have consistent and predictable availability of data."
