McIntyre Announces $940,000 for Lumber River EMC to Help with Landfill Management Project

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre announced today that Lumber River EMC has been awarded $940,000 in federal loans and grants to help finance a generator for its landfill gas mitigation project.

Congressman McIntyre stated, "Safe landfill disposal is critical to our families, our communities, and our businesses. This strong federal investment will help maintain a healthy environment and create economic opportunity right here at home! Congratulations to all the fine folks at Lumber River EMC for their work in this matter."

McIntyre stated that Congress has appropriated, and the United States Economic Development Administration has awarded Lumber River EMC a loan of $640,000 and a grant of $300,000 as part of the Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant program which provides zero-interest loans and grants for projects that create and retain employment in rural areas.

Congressman McIntyre is a senior member of the House Agriculture Committee and the Co-Chairman of the Rural Caucus Task Force on Jobs.
