International Paper Prices $1.6 Billion of Senior Unsecured Notes

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Investment Weekly News -- International Paper Company (NYSE: IP) announced that it has priced $800 million of 3.65% senior unsecured notes due 2024 and $800 million of 4.80% senior unsecured notes due 2044. The 2024 and 2044 notes were issued at a public offering price of 99.626% and 99.479%, respectively. The offering was made pursuant to an effective shelf registration statement.

International Paper intends to use all or a portion of the net proceeds from the sale of the notes to fund the purchase price of up to $1 billion combined aggregate principal amount (subject to increase) of International Paper's outstanding 7.95% notes due 2018 and 9.375% notes due 2019 tendered and accepted by International Paper in a tender offer commenced today. International Paper intends to use any net proceeds remaining from the sale of the notes, including if the tender offer is not consummated, for general corporate purposes, including the repayment of indebtedness.
