BRIEF: Municipal Band opens season tonight

June 12--The South Dakota 4-H Performing Arts Troupe will help the Aberdeen Municipal Band kick off its season tonight at Melgaard Park bandshell.

The 4-H members will perform at 7:40 p.m., followed by the Municipal Band at 8 p.m.

The Municipal Band concerts run about an hour. The shows are free to the public.

Some benches are provided, but many people opt to bring lawn chairs or blankets and sit on the grass. The band is directed by Jerry Letcher.

The concert selections for this week are:

-- "Star-Spangled Banner"

-- "The Fourth of July"

-- The Genius of Ray Charles

-- "E Pluribus Unum"

-- "Mt. Everest"

-- "The Big Cage"

-- The Eagles on tour

-- "Trombone Tiger Rag"

-- Americana Folk Suite

-- Disney Razzamatazz
