BRIEF: Cadets perform with hundreds of youth in West Park

June 12--Youth Education in the Arts (YEA!), a program in downtown Allentown that offers classes in the arts ranging from dancing to percussion, will celebrate its 10th year anniversary with performances by more than 500 young people in Allentown'sWest ParkJune 12.

YEA! will present an evening of brass percussion and dance by performers ages 6-26 at 7 p.m.

Headlining will be the 10-time World Champion Cadets drum corps performing its 2014 competition production "Promise: A Portrait of America." The Cadets will present classic American compositions from Aaron Copland in the group's style of soaring brass and high-energy percussion. The Cadets is the flagship program of YEA!.

Making its first public appearance of 2014 will be Cadets2, a regional weekend-only drum corps. Also performing will be the Xcape Dance Company and the Designated Hitters, the official drumline of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Admission is free; donations are welcome.

The Cadets also will perform a free concert at noon June 12 at PPL Plaza in Downtown Allentown as part of the Summer in the City Concert Series.
