June 12--Ballet Vero Beach announced its lineup for the 2014-2015 season. The company will perform three separate programs in August, January, and March to mark its first full season.
Program 1 arrives on Riverside Theatre's Stark Stage Aug. 15 and 16, with the return of the L.A. Contemporary Dance Company. The company performed as featured guest artists on Ballet Vero Beach's "Dance is a Universal Language" debut last April.
Program 2, "At Sixes and Sevens", will take the stage at Vero Beach High School'sPerforming Arts CenterJan. 16 and 17, 2015. The program will feature Go For Barocco by Peter Anastos, Valse Fantaisie by George Balanchine (© The George Balanchine Trust), and Finch Concerto (a world premiere by artistic director Adam Schnell).
Ballet Vero Beach passed through a rigorous screening process to be given permission to perform George Balanchine's Valse Fantaisie. Paul Boos (a former dancer with New York City Ballet), who has staged Balanchine's work for companies such as The Paris Opera Ballet, The Bolshoi Ballet, and The Kirov/Mariinsky Ballet, will coach Ballet Vero Beach dancers in this sparkling example of Balanchine's work.
Program 3, "Paquita", will close the 2014-2015 season with performances March 27 and 28 at Vero Beach High School'sPerforming Arts Center. Paquita, a classical repertoire, will showcase the entire company. Add to the mix Samuel Kurkjian's lush Debussy Suite and the bold pas de deux from Flames of Paris, and you have a program that represents ballet at its most breathtaking.
