June 11--ORIENTAL -- Pamlico Musical Society will offer two performances on Saturday with Jacob Johnson, followed by Jonathan Byrd and his band "The Pick Up Cowboys."

Johnson's web site describes his music as "neo-acoustic folk/funk."

The event is free on the grounds of the Oriental Marina from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

Johnson's story-telling style and flashy guitar embody what he calls "neo-acoustic folk funk." North Carolina native Byrd has seven albums and has been described as "a folk singer with the heart of a rock and roll band."

He describes himself as a seventh-generation Carolinian, with family roots in Caswell County dating to 1795.

In the event of rain, the shows will go indoors to the Old Theater on Broad Street.
