June 10, 2014

A startup based on open-source software, Mesosphere Inc., has raised $10.5 million in funding for the smooth operating of the data centers of some of tech's major companies.

It is also known for putting to an end twitter's "Fail Whale."

Mesosphere's software, called Mesos, was originally created by Benjamin Hindman, a graduate student in computer science at the University of California, Berkeley.

The company will use the money to provide commercial support and new apparatuses that will help spread Mesos more vastly, helping it become user-friendly.

Andreessen Horowitz General Partner Peter Levine stated : "Every data center on the planet is looking at the likes of Twitter and Facebook and Google and saying, how can I get similar economic scale and flexibility like what those Silicon Valley folks are getting?"
