Chunghwa Telecom Co has introduced its fourth-generation Long-Term Evolution (4G LTE) network in the country.

Rick Tsai, chairman and chief executive officer of the operator stated that for the service the company has started accepting applications.

Chunghwa Telecom stated that with this launch will now provide eight types of 4G monthly plans ranging in price from NT$236 (US$7.87) to NT$2,636. It currently offers more than 30 types of 4G LTE-compatible devices and plans to raise that number to over 50 in the Q3.

The company has invested over NT$10 billion in building the infrastructure for the 4G LTE network and will aim to expand its mobile internet customers to 5 million, said Tsai.

Chunghwa Telecom has over 4.38 million mobile internet customers as of April this year and estimates earlier that its 4G customers could reach 400,000 by the end of 2014.
