Nikkei hits 2-month high early morning on Wall St. gains

Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday, with the Nikkei hitting a two-month high, as market sentiment was bolstered by gains on Wall Street on Friday.

In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 199.45 points, or 1.36 percent, from Friday to 14,831.83. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 14.16 points, or 1.18 percent, to 1,215.57.

On Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 index finished at all-time highs on growing optimism over the U.S. economy.
