Uhuru's Travels Abroad Are Crucial for Investors

May 9, 2014

The local business community is of the view that President Uhuru Kenyattna's frequent visits abroad are important to reassure the international investors that Kenya is safe.

Kenya needs both foreign direct investments and tourists who earn it foreign exchange.

Speaking after a risk management forum yesterday, Liaison Group's managing director Tom Mulwa said the visits are important to reassure the international business community that the country's security situation "is not as bad as it looks".

"Perception is very important and constant communication about how insecurity is being dealt with is the way to go," Mulwa said.

Kenya Flower Council's chief executive officer Jane Ngige said the country's image is important for the export business, adding that the source and destination must be perceived to be safe by the market.
