May 08--Of course Lady Gaga is returning to Consol Energy Center for a third time Thursday.

Didn't you hear? She lives for the applause, applause, applause.

She should find plenty in Pittsburgh, stop No. 3 on her "artRave: The ARTPOP Ball Tour."

Opening night Sunday in Florida included all sorts of daring theatrics fans and critics of the envelope-pushing pop superstar have come to expect.

MTV's reviewer especially like Lady Gaga's latex octopus tentacles, and the moment after "Alejandro" when the 28-year-old singer skipped a backstage trip and instead did a full costume change in front of her audience. She was topless except for silvery pasties.

Tickets are available from $47 to $236. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. with some unusual support acts -- Lady Starlight, a 38-year-old rock deejay/go-go dancer/fashion stylist/performance artist; and Hatsune Miku, a computer-crafted "virtual" singer.

Four of the funnest seconds in music the past few years came courtesy of Brittany Howard, when she hits and holds that note during the chorus of Alabama Shakes' "Hold On."

Phonetically, you might spell it out as "You've got to hooooold on."

Nominated for three 2013 Grammy Awards including "Best New Artist," and having electrified viewers of "Saturday Night Live," Alabama Shakes is ready to rattle and roll in Pittsburgh, with a Thursday date at Stage AE.

Joining the Alabama founded rock band will be New Orleans' the Deslondes, a country-soul, R&B, folk and gospel-influenced group.

Showtime is 8 p.m., with tickets $35.

So what if she didn't get to replace David Letterman?

Chelsea Handler still has plenty of opportunities ahead, with one rumor, repeated by the New York Post, suggesting the fearless comic is negotiating with Netflix for a new show.

Handler's contract with E! expires at the end of the year, bringing to an end her "Chelsea Lately" celebrity-skewering talk show.

She's also a prolific best-selling author and stand-up comic popular enough to headline Consol Energy Center on Saturday.

Start time is 8 p.m., and tickets are $69 to $91 for Handler's Uganda Be Kidding Me Tour, a title taken from her latest book, which follows previous tomes "Borderline Amazing/A Chelsea Handler Book," "Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me," "My Horizontal Life: A Collection Of One Night Stands," "Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang" and "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea."
