May 14, 2014

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Telecommunications Weekly -- eRecyclingCorps (eRC), a leading provider of carrier grade mobile device trade-in and reuse solutions, has received a Verizon Supplier Award for its outstanding efforts and partnership in support of Verizon's green and sustainability initiatives. In 2013, eRC helped Verizon deliver more than $200 million in mobile device trade-in value to its customers and increase the device recycling volume by more than 33 percent.

"Recognizing the residual value in today's advanced wireless devices and extending the lifecycle of these devices has been beneficial for our business, the environment and most importantly, for our customers," said James J. Gowen, chief sustainability officer and vice president of supply chain operations for Verizon.

The Verizon Device Recycling Program allows customers that trade-in their idle phones, tablets, netbooks and mobile broadband connecting devices. Qualified devices will receive a Verizon Wireless Virtual Gift Card. Alternatively, customers also have the option to donate their used phone to HopeLine from Verizon, a program that provides support to victims and survivors of domestic violence.

"We are proud to partner and support Verizon's environmental sustainability initiatives through programs like mobile device trade in," said Tracy Nolan, senior vice president for carrier operations at eRecyclingCorps. "At eRecyclingCorps, we believe that reuse is the best form of recycling and that its positive impact can drive economic, environmental and social benefits worldwide."
