Servergy to Discuss the Future of Distributed Storage and Sustainable Big Data

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Cleantech IT innovations company Servergy, Inc. – recently described as a “revolutionary disruptor” for the coming “datacenter storm” by Gartner, the top global IT research and advisory firm – will participate today in the Open BigCloud Symposium and OCP Workshop 2014.

Servergy Vice President of Engineering Vihar Rai will discuss trends in distributed storage and the need for more sustainable server technology to keep up with today’s data-hungry, power- and real estate-constrained era of big data and cloud services. Rai’s presentation – “The Future of Distributed Storage Today” will be held from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. on May 7 in the Ballroom at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

“The ‘new normal’ for datacenters globally will be a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability, especially for accelerating extremely high ‘I/O intensive’ workloads for the emerging big data world,” said Bill Mapp, founder, chairman and CEO, Servergy. “Servergy is a US-based Cleantech IT innovations engine and original design manufacturer (ODM). We are working with industry leaders to accelerate game changing clean and green IT innovations, for data center and embedded applications, globally.”

Servergy’s first server in its new Cleantech Server® line, the CTS-1000, represents an entirely new class of Linux server designed from the ground up using Servergy’s patented Cleantech Architecture™ to address the biggest problems facing data centers around the world today. Servergy Cleantech Servers® reduces server power, cooling, space, water, weight and carbon by up to 90% or more, and increases data I/O by up to 16X or more over traditional server technology.

The Open BigCloud Symposium will bring together the brightest minds in industry, academia, and research to discuss the future of cloud computing and Big Data on May 7-8, 2014, at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

With Open Compute hardware, OpenStack software, and Software Defined Network (SDN) quickly gaining adoption around the world, the symposium will feature presentations from Servergy, Rackspace, Facebook, Gartner, the University of Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC), Virginia Tech, University of Notre Dame, and others.

The conference is open by invitation only and free to attendees. More information can be found at http://openbigcloudsymposiumandocp2014a.sched.org/.
