MSM index edges higher

Muscat: The MSM30 Index closed with gains at 6,780.46 points, up by 0.27 per cent. MSM Shariah Index ended on a flat note and closed at 1,070.29, down by 0.03 per cent.



Oman & Emirates was the most active in terms of volume while Omantel was the most active in terms of turnover.  Areej Vegetables, which moved up 2.99 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman Fisheries was the top loser for the day, down by 3.26 per cent.



A total number of 1,188 trades were executed in yesterday's trading session generating turnover of OMR6.65 million with over 14.33 million shares traded. Out of 49 traded stocks, 16 advanced, 14 declined and 19 were unchanged.



Foreign investors were net buyers for OMR467,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR 277,000 while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR744,000 worth of shares.



Financial Sector Index gained 0.18 per cent to close at 8,078.19 points. United Finance, Tageer Finance, Takaful Oman, Gulf Investment Services and National Bank were increased by 2.67 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 1.94 per cent, 1.77 per cent and 1.71 per cent, respectively.



Global Investment, Oman & Emirates, Bank Nizwa, Al Anwar Holdings and Al Batinah Development declined by 1.33 per cent, 1.14 per cent, 1.12 per cent, 0.56 per cent and 0.56 per cent, respectively.



Industrial Sector Index closed at 10,406.35 points, up by 0.07 per cent. Areej Vegetables, Al Hassan Engineering, Galfar Engineering, Oman Cement and Oman Cables increased by 2.99 per cent, 2.11 per cent, 0.81 per cent, 0.51 per cent and 0.41 per cent, respectively.
