May 7, 2014

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Los Angeles Conservation Corps, the largest urban conservation corps in the nation, named Banc of California, N.A., the wholly owned national bank subsidiary of Banc of California, Inc. (NASDAQ: BANC), its “Community Partner of the Year” at the organization’s Spring Luncheon Celebration. Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, a longtime supporter of the Los Angeles Conservation Corps and Senior Advisor to Banc of California, accepted the honor on the Bank’s behalf.

Banc of California has partnered with the Los Angeles Conservation Corps since 2011 and recently become the organization’s lead community sponsor. As part of this commitment, Banc of California provided additional financial support and boosted its contribution of employee time, energy, and expertise.

“Banc of California has been a tremendous partner focused on helping at-risk youth from low income communities reach their full potential,” said Mercedes Morton, President and Board Chair of the Los Angeles Conservation Corps. “While the Bank has provided very generous financial support, their employees’ commitment to community service has proven to be an even more effective way to meaningfully assist in the lives of thousands of young people. We are thankful for their support and are proud to name them our very deserving Community Partner of the Year.”

A national leader in youth and workforce development and alternative education for inner-city youth and young adults, the Los Angeles Conservation Corps was founded in 1986 by former U.S. Secretary of Commerce and Trade Ambassador Mickey Kantor. Its primary mission and purpose is to provide at-risk young adults and school-aged youth with opportunities for success through job skills training, education and work experience with an emphasis on conservation and service projects that benefit the community.

“The Los Angeles Conservation Corps serves more than 17,000 young people each year making a positive impact in their lives,” said Steven Sugarman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Banc of California. “We are humbled and honored that the Los Angeles Conservation Corps has named us their Community Partner of the Year.”
