U.S. Trust Discusses Women in Philanthropy and Trends in Social Impact Investing at 2014 National Forum on Family Philanthropy

May 5, 2014

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management, is the premium sponsor of the first annual National Forum on Family Philanthropy (ncfp14.org), hosted by the National Center for Family Philanthropy this week in Cambridge, Mass. As part of its support, leading executives from U.S. Trust will offer new insights on the role of women in family philanthropy and growing interest in social impact, values-based and gender lens investing.

The forum runs May 7-9, 2014 and convenes 250 leaders in family philanthropy, trustees and other senior executives to explore critical issues facing donor families. Attendees will hear from some of the most thought-provoking leaders in the field, as well as the nonprofit and private sectors, through a series of panel and open format discussions, workshops and case studies. U.S. Trust thought leaders participating in the forum include:

  • Claire Costello, national philanthropic practice executive, will moderate a discussion about women’s contribution to the family philanthropy and its effectiveness. Costello will be joined by remarkable donors Jennifer Buffett, president and co-chair of the NoVo Foundation, and Peggy Dulany, founder and chair of The Synergos Institute.
  • Jason Baron, portfolio manager of U.S. Trust’s Socially Innovative Investing Strategy, and Jackie Vanderbrug, senior investment strategist, will host a session titled “Impact Investing – Moving from Intrigue to Implementation,” during which they will discuss the potential financial and social returns of impact investing and how this come of age approach offers additional means through which families can pursue their missions.

“Passing philanthropic values from one generation to the next is an important way to maintain the productive purpose of wealth and to sustain support for communities and causes meaningful to a family,” says Costello, who also serves on the NCFP board. “Knowledge sharing set to take place at this industry forum will contribute greatly to the broader philanthropic discourse and enhance our ability to support our clients’ philanthropic ambitions.”
