Southern rock band 38 Special sets date in Lake Charles

May 31--LAKE CHARLES, La. -- A band which burned up the charts with its signature sound is coming to Southwest Louisiana this week.

Southern rock group 38 Special will perform at 9 p.m., Friday, June 6, at the Isle of Capri Event Center in Lake Charles, La. for ages 21 and older. Tickets are $20 for Fan Club card members and $25 for all others and can be purchased by calling 800-THE-ISLE or online at Tickets are also available in the Isle of Capri Banana Cabana Gift Shop.

The band formed in 1974 and released its self-titled debut in 1977. It wasn't until 38 Special released its fourth album, "Wild-Eyed Southern Boys" in 1981, that the group finally experienced a breakthrough with the hit song "Hang On Loosely," the first of the band's 12 Top 10 hits on the Mainstream chart.

The group is best known for its two No. 1 hits "Caught Up in You" and "If I'd Been the One," as well as other radio hits such as "Back Where You Belong," "Teacher, Teacher," "Rockin' Into the Night" and more.

The last studio album from 38 Special was "Drivetrain" released in July 2004. Its most current release is "Live from Texas," a collection of the band's biggest and best songs recorded at various cities across Texas from a previous tour.
