May 31--Kokomo dance crew BreakSk8 announced it will be performing on season 11 of the hit Fox show "So You Think You Can Dance."

This season will feature a never-before seen section called "Crews Control."

Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe said two crews will be introduced in each of the four audition episodes with the public tweeting which crew they want to see in the studio.

"Once again we will need America's votes to get us into the next round of competition," said BreakSk8 co-founder Shannon Anthony. "The network has been keeping us in suspense as to who we are competing against and all the fine details. We do know that voting will be done via Twitter."

Co-founder Jessy Nice said he's "99.9 percent sure" the episode featuring their routine will air at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The crew was invited to perform a two-minute routine inside a 150-year-old theater during the Chicago auditions. The routine was jam packed.

"We know what people want to see, so we gave them two minutes of that," Nice said.

The Kokomo crew made a name for itself in 2008 when it competed on MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew."

Nice said people thought the group would fade from the spotlight quickly. Many thought their act was just a gimmick.

BreakSk8 performs dance routines on roller skates. When the five original members appeared on MTV, everyone thought they were a dance group who just learned one routine on skates to get on national television, Nice said.

"They thought it was a gimmick, but we were all skaters first," he said.

They've proven the naysayers wrong by remaining relevant even after leaving the MTV show, Nice said. They've performed or competed on a television show every year since. A year after their MTV debut, the group competed on "America's Got Talent." It also has appeared on a show in China and one in France.

In between those appearances, the guys in the crew perform at universities and mall openings all over the world, including one in Dubai.

Nice said he and Anthony just returned from Monaco where they performed alongside pop icon Mariah Carey at the 2014 World Music Awards.

"This proves to everybody that we have staying power," Nice said. "It shows our longevity."

Now, the crew is working on its own big show. They've already brought that production to Logansport and they're bringing it to Kokomo soon, Nice said. It will be a giant show, he said.

Most people have only seen them perform in short, little segments, he said. This will be a long show to really showcase their skills.

"We're excited," Nice said. "We're bringing it home. It'll be a big, fun show."
