It's an event of pre-historic proportions. Spend a day with Discover the Dinosaurs -- an interactive exhibit of more than 40 moving and replica dinosaurs, rides, "fossil" digging and more -- from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 31, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at the Pa. Street rods

The 41st annual Street Rod Nationals East rolls into York with exhibits, contests, games, live entertainment, vendors, arts and crafts and more from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7, and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at the York Expo Center, 334 Carlisle Ave., West Manchester Township. Bully buddies

The York County SPCA's fourth annual Bully Bash celebrates oft-maligned dog breeds from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at John Rudy County Park off Mundis Race Road in East Manchester Township. Kicking off the day's festivities will be a 5K race and 1-mile fun walk at 9 a.m. The festival offers games, a parade, adoptable dogs, raffles, food and more. Sounds of Summer

The 2014 Sounds of Summer free concert series kicks off with the beach party band Surf City All-Stars Sunday, June 8, in the Springettsbury Township Park amphitheater, 1501 Mount Zion Road, Springettsbury Township. Patriotic performance

The U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band's Rhythm in Blue Jazz Ensemble will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at The Pullo Center, 1031 Edgecomb Ave., on the Penn State York campus in Spring Garden Township. Blues queen

Crowned the 2011 Chicago Blues Festival's "Queen of the Blues," Shemekia Copeland will give a performance at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 12, in the Capitol Theatre, 50 N. George St., York. Sci-Fi Saturday

Musical in the studio

Book Nook Bonanza

The annual Book Nook Bonanza to benefit WellSpan programs runs June 20-22 at the York City Ice Arena, 941 Vander Ave., with books, movies, music and puzzles for sale. Children get in free all weekend; adults pay $5 from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 20, and $2 on Saturday, June 21. The sale runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Information:

Codorus Blast

The 13th annual Codorus Blast festival takes over Codorus State Park for three days with a triathlon, dock dog events, rock climbing, live music, Medieval re-enactments, nature exhibits, children's activities, fireworks, demonstrations, arts and crafts, food and more. All things Irish
