May 30--Alexander D. Greene, a former managing partner and head of the U.S. private equity team at Brookfield Asset Management, has been appointed to the USA Truck board of directors.
Van Buren-based USA Truck announced Friday that with Greene's appointment the board has expanded to 10 members. USA Truck also recently announced that two representatives for United Shareholders, which owns 28 percent of USA Truck stock, had been appointed to the USA Truck board of directors. Their appointments were effective on the same date as the appointment of Greene, a release states.
Greene was based in New York City for Brookfield, a global Canada-based company, until a few months ago after beginning work for the company in December 2005. Greene has more than 30 years of corporate finance and private equity experience. Brookfield has more than $175 billion of assets under management, the release states. In a 2011 interview with Kevin Nee of SuperReturn Global Series, Greene said Brookfield specialized with "restructurings and turnarounds."
"I have known and worked with Alex for many years, and we are delighted to have him join our board," USA Truck Chairman Robert A. Peiser stated in the release. "We believe the financial, business and strategic acumen he has demonstrated throughout his distinguished career will be extremely valuable to USA Truck as we work to further improve the company's financial performance and create long-term shareholder value."
Prior to joining Brookfield, Greene served as an investment banker to large and mid-cap businesses. His positions included serving as a managing director and co-head of Carlyle Strategic Partners and as a managing director of Wasserstein Perella & Co.
Greene is also a director of CWC Energy Services, a provider of drilling and service rigs and other services to oil and gas producers in Canada. He previously served on the board of Longview Fibre Paper & Packaging Inc.
