May 30--PANAMA CITY -- A Panama City ministry is using the power of music to help give back to the community.

Several gospel music acts will take the stage at the Martin Theatre Saturday night for "Raise my House," a show hosted by Iron Side Ministries to help local people in need.

Ministry founder Chase Johnston said the money raised will benefit elderly people in need of home repairs, individuals in need of legal consultations and families with gifts and meals during the holidays.

"I raise money to help people in a distressed situation," Johnston said. "We try to do a lot of good."

Johnson said Iron Side Ministries tries to host about three fundraising events each year.

"I want to keep it going because there is a need for this," Johnston said. "We want to try to help as many people as we can."

Saturday's event will feature performances from gospel artists Ron French, Southern Glory, Grand Junction and Mercy Revealed from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are available for $12 at the Martin Theatre box office. The organization also will be taking donations.

Johnston said the community has been supportive of his efforts and the ministry has already received several donations. Event sponsors include 231 Paint & Body Shop, Danny's Body Shop, the Captain's Table restaurant owner Mitch Holman, Heritage Funeral Home, Brooks Bait & Tackle and Allen's Audio & Video Repair.

"We had some secret donations from people who just wanted to give from the heart," Johnston said. "We want to thank anyone for all their help."

Anyone interested in getting involved in future projects can contact Johnston at 850-867-8990.

"Some families fall through the cracks," he said. "It's really a good thing and I want to see it grow because there's always people in need."
