Molchany, 55, of
Molchany is widely credited with overseeing a turnaround in the zoo's books, reducing its reliance on county contributions. He made several appearances in the county board's chambers during the past year as he fought to keep that funding.
Commissioners congratulated him in his appointment and said his departure would be a loss for the zoo.

The General Services Office oversees service and maintenance functions for county facilities, as well public services related to parks and recreation, bridge maintenance, and emergency management, the county website says. It also provides project management services and coordination for construction and renovation projects as well as utility management dealing with electric, gas and telecommunications services.
