Mom's Monday concerts at Lake Winnie

May 29, 2014

May 29--A free Mom's Monday Concert Series kicks off next week at Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park.

The series takes its name from a summer promotion known as Mom's Monday, when any mom (21 and older) gets a free unlimited ride ticket when accompanied by two children paying full price. The offer is valid Mondays from June 2 to Aug. 4 as well as Sept. 1 (the concert series ends Aug. 4). The ticket covers gate admission, unlimited rides and access to SoakYa Water Park.

Country/folk artist Faith Evans Ruch kicks off the series. The Memphis resident was working as a labor and delivery nurse at Baptist Women's Hospital when she finally gave in to her musical muse in the summer of 2011. She released her first album, "1835 Madison," two years later. Music critic Silver Michaels dubbed it "too good to be a debut."

Concerts in the weekly series start at 6:30 p.m. on the Lakeside Stage.

Lake Winnie is at 1730 Lakeview Drive in Rossville. For more information, call 706-866-5681 or visit
