Achieves third accreditation from EHNAC

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Availity, one of the nation’s leading health information networks, announced today that it has received full accreditation from the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC) under its Healthcare Network Accreditation Program (HNAP).

The HNAP accreditation is a widely recognized symbol of excellence in health care information processing, and demonstrates compliance with the latest industry standards and HIPAA regulations. During the rigorous accreditation process, EHNAC reviewed how Availity manages and transfers protected health information (PHI), and determined it meets or exceeds all program criteria and standards.

“At a time of heightened regulatory concerns, it is responsible organizations such as Availity that we applaud for taking the extra steps necessary to demonstrate compliance with the latest standards in privacy, security and confidentiality,” said Lee Barrett, executive director of EHNAC. “In order to earn EHNAC’s HNAP accreditation, an organization must display excellence in health information processing and associated transactions, and a commitment to ensuring the privacy of its customers.”

EHNAC evaluated Availity’s ability to meet federal and state health care reform mandates such as HIPAA, Omnibus, ARRA/HITECH and ACA. Additionally, the commission’s evaluation focused on the areas of privacy, security, confidentiality, best practices, procedures and assets. Availity’s technical performance, general business practices and overall resources were also reviewed during the accreditation process.

“The HNAP distinction speaks to Availity’s dynamic approach towards meeting specific industry benchmarks for privacy and security practices, as well as other network performance factors,” said Karin Lindgren, SVP Legal Affairs and Chief Compliance Officer for Availity. “This accreditation is another example of Availity’s ongoing commitment to achieving the high standards that are required to be a trusted intermediary and business partner in health information exchange.”
