Union County Receives Award for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report

MONROE, N.C., May 27 -- The Union County Office of the Commissioners and Manager issued the following news release:

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Union County's Administrative Services Finance Division for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by Union County.

According to a press release from the GFOA, Union County's CAFR has been judges by an impartial panel to the meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and users groups to read the CAFR.

This is the second award from the GFOA that Union County's Finance Division has won in the past three months. In March, the Finance Division received the GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its Fiscal Year 2013-2014 budget. Union County is the first organization in the county to receive the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
