Stratodesk Revenues Quadruple as Virtualized Enterprises Clamor to Avoid the Brutal Choice between High-Cost Windows Upgrades and Vulnerability

Unique VDI endpoint solution saves $700,000 in upgrade expenses with end of support for Windows XP

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Stratodesk, the market-leading provider of hardware-agnostic endpoint repurposing software for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), announced that its first quarter results have once again exceeded expectations, with another 400 percent jump from Q1 2013.

In addition to the release of its multi-kernel OS and strengthened partnerships with VMware, Citrix, and other leading VDI providers, Stratodesk‘s first-quarter business growth has been fueled significantly by Microsoft’s termination of support for Windows XP.

“Large enterprises that have virtualized their Windows XP clients are still vulnerable to the security risks of the unsupported operating system,” says Stratodesk founder and CEO Emanuel Pirker. “The Stratodesk NoTouch Receiver OS can replace Windows XP on PCs, laptops, and thin clients, enabling their complete and safe reuse without incurring the cost of a Windows 7 upgrade.”

Companies are using the end of Windows XP support as an opportunity to turn their aging PCs and laptops into secure and remotely manageable smart zero clients. One of Stratodesk’s customers, a large healthcare provider in Michigan and Indiana, has avoided replacing 1,500 endpoints with systems capable of supporting Windows 7, saving $700,000.

Enterprises attracted to easy endpoint administration

NoTouch Receiver can be run from local or network drives or from external media and connects to a wide range of VDI environments. An included web-based administration tool, NoTouch Center, provides centralized client configuration attributes, automated client updates, asset management, and client security features.

This centralized management is of particular value to distributed enterprises in sectors such as healthcare, education, and government. “With campuses thousands of miles apart in often inhospitable climates, remote endpoint management is essential,” says Mark Thompson, IT Infrastructure Manager, University of Alaska Southeast. “Our existing academic computer environment—comprised of computer classrooms, stationary labs, and mobile labs—required intensive management. Latest release strengthens ties with VDI partners

In its most recent software release, NoTouch 2.38 (dubbed “Point Reyes”), Stratodesk has bolstered its integration with leading and emerging VDI products. Updates include Citrix Receiver 13.0, VMware Horizon View client 2.3, and the Dell vWorkspace Client. It has also integrated the contactless RFID-based integration by Evidian.

Stratodesk credits the Evidan integration and other continuous improvements in part for its success in acquiring additional customers, such as a New England general medical and surgical hospital. The company expects further sustainable growth quarter on quarter.
