May 28--RICHMOND -- After the second appearance by Dolly Parton for St. Mark Catholic Church's "Evening Among Friends" series Tuesday, the church announced it will bring Reba McEntire, another member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, to Richmond on Oct. 12.
Her concert also will be at the EKU Center for the Arts.
"Tickets can be purchased only through the St. Mark Catholic Church office or website," said Father James Sichko, St. Mark pastor. "And, with a performer of Reba's magnitude -- combined with the limited number of dates she'll be performing, we expect tickets to go fast."
Prior to the Dolly Parton performance, most "Evening Among Friends" events have taken place at the church, but Sichko said the EKU Center has proven to be "the perfect venue" for performers such as Parton and McEntire.
"We're thrilled to make these performers available to a larger audience," he said.
McEntire is one of the most successful female recording artists of all time, Sichko said, having sold more than 56 million albums worldwide.
She also is a member of the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame and has won 15 American Music Awards, 13 Academy of Country Music Awards, nine People's Choice Awards, seven Country Music Association Awards, two Grammy Awards, an ACM Career Achievement Honor and is one of only four entertainers to receive the National Artistic Achievement Award from Congress.
The Oklahoma native also is an acclaimed actress with 11 movie credits. She made her Broadway debut in Irving Berlin's "Annie Get Your Gun," which the New York Times hailed as "without qualification the best performance by an actress in a musical comedy this season."
Tickets for the Oct. 12 concert are available by calling 623-2989, Ext. 2001, or by visiting the website, saintmarkcatholicchurch.net.
