Strategy Video: S&P 500 Bulls or Yen Cross Chop - Which is Right?

May 27, 2014

John Kicklighter

Talking Points:

** The S&P 500 followed in the footsteps of European equities to charge record highs

** Risk, however, is not as uniform across the financial markets as equities may insinuate

** Though different markets and trades sensitive to 'risk' can diverge; eventually, all return to the fold

Equities charged to a record high in US and European trade. If this were the only or best measure of investor appetite, it would seem the markets are roaring...but they are not. Looking to emerging markets, the FX carry trade, high-yield and other asset classes sensitive to the ebb and flow of capital return versus risk of loss; there a scale of performance that trails the performance seen in equities. Some are even down on the year. What does this mean for our trading? Which asset class is 'right'? We discuss this in today's Strategy Video.
