Free Starbucks at Grand Opening

May 27, 2014

May 27--Starbucks will be giving out free hot or iced coffee this Friday during the official grand opening celebration of its new downtown Detroit location.

The free "tall" coffee will be served from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The new Starbucks is on the ground floor of the Ernst & Young building at One Kennedy Square, across from Campus Martius and next to the Potbelly Sandwich Shop.

The cafe opened last month as the first new full-scale Starbucks in the city in six years since the Seattle-based coffee chain closed two downtown shops and another near Belle Isle.

Yet another new Detroit Starbucks opened just last week near the Meijer store in the Gateway Marketplace at 8 Mile and Woodward. That location has already done its free coffee giveaway day.
